Holidaying at the Hairy Hounds Hotel
Welcome,
Hairy Hounds is one of the best holiday destinations you could possibly find for your
four legged friends and is owned by a family who have loved dogs for many
decades.
We are located just outside the village of Churchtown at the foot of the Ballyhoura
mountains in North Cork, close to a number of towns and cities, only a mere 45
minutes from Cork, Limerick and Kerry.
Our dog hotel is not just an ordinary boarding kennels but is a country hotel for your
friend. Set in 2 acres of pure countryside, all our rooms have a large spacious sleep
area with raised comfortable bedding, central heating and covered outside patio
areas. Our bedrooms can accommodate both single or double occupancy.
Our home away from home style boarding hotel, opened Summer 2021, and offers a
large day care room that sits just outside the bedroom doors, this is where the fun
happens during the day, and our residents can play and mingle. For added comfort,
we have our stove, slouch couch and TV for those colder winter months, who doesn’t
love a duvet day?
And just off our daycare room is our enclosed, environment enriched garden where
your best friend can met their new friends for a play and a good sniff around!
So doesn’t your dog deserve a holiday at Hairy Hounds? You may be surprised at
how much they enjoy it, so you can enjoy your break knowing that they are enjoying
theirs.

Vaccinations
It is a condition of our policy and in the best interest of your dog’s health, that the
appropriate vaccinations are in place for the duration of their stay.
It’s vital to check this when making a booking, as without a valid, up to date
vaccination card, we cannot accept your dog as a guest.
Please note that we do insist upon your dog having the Kennel Cough vaccine along with their DHPPI and Lepto vaccine, these MUST be within date and MUST be given each year at their annual veterinary check up by a veterinary surgeon. It is advisable that all vaccinations are given time to absorb.
If you require further information on vaccinations please don’t hesitate to contact us, and perhaps your veterinary clinic.
Exercise and Play
At Hairy Hounds we believe it’s really important to tailor exercise and play to what a
guest needs. Some of our younger and active guests will need more exercise than
those who are enjoying a more leisurely lifestyle in their later years.
All of our guests have their own patio area, and can run in and out as long as they
wish. All patios are covered so the weather will make no difference at all. They are dry when it’s raining and will have shelter from the sun when it’s hot. Patios
can be accessed from first light in morning until bedtime.
Our environmentally enriched garden which is just off our day-care room, offers your pet hours of free roaming and many sniffs and smells. It’s here where the fun
happens and friendships are made!
Our Daily Routine
The morning wakeup call starts from 7am, when our team starts work. However if
you are a late riser and prefer a snooze then that’s fine by us.
There isn’t any fixed daily routine that any guest has to follow, and can tailor the day to your dogs need, some of our elderly guests prefer to lounge in front of the stove or if not there, they can be found by the radiator in the grooming room with Lorraine.
All meals are A la Carte and room service is free!!
There is no turn down service or chocolate on the pillow, but Shane or Lorraine
come around each evening before lights out with a gravy bone biscuit or other treat.
