MEET THE TEAM
Lorraine and Shane!
We are a husband and wife duo, who share a love for not only each other (most times anyway) but for dogs too.
I knew from a young age I wanted to work with animals, and after attending a careers day in secondary school, decided to pursue a veterinary nursing course in St. Johns College, Cork.I really enjoyed the course and went on to do a final year in dog grooming, it was during that year, I attended work experience in Kilworth, Co. Cork, where I really fell in love with the art of grooming, thanks to my excellent mentor. I gained a distinction in dog grooming and a Level 5 FETAC qualification.
After working in a veterinary clinic for 7 years, and gaining a mountain of experience and knowledge, I took the plunge and opened Hairy Hounds in 2012, it was here, Shane really came on board with alot of support and reassurance.
When talking at home about the daycare and hotel idea of the business, I nominated myself to do a course with ELISTA Education where I delved into the world of dog behaviour, and what a world it is, I gained sooo much knowledge and came home with so many little nuggets of information. Behaviour is such an exciting subject to study and I really look forward to doing more in this area. I really do feel incredibly lucky to have a job that I truly love, I have the best ‘office’ in the world
where I can bring Louie & Izzie (our two Schnauzers) to on a daily basis and love the idea of working from home, with my
family close by.

After many years of working in the motor industry, a career change was due, with Hairy Hounds growing, and a bit of a crazy dream developing, it was time to come home and join the team in summer of 2021.
I completely a Level 5 dog grooming course in Mallow College in 2020, really to get a better insight into grooming. I found myself to really enjoy it and ended up passing the course with Distinction. I do a lot of work with the hotel and daycare side
of the business and love getting to know all of your Hairy Hounds!!

Louie
Louie came on board in 2011, after Shane and myself attended Crufts, where we saw the breed in all its glory! Louie hands down is a character and is the star of all our Hairy Hounds posts and truly loves to be in front of the camera, shur look at him, hes a beaut!
Izzie
Izzie joined Hairy Hounds in 2016, she is a pure softie that loves a good cuddle! She is Louies sidekick and you rarely see one without the other. Izzie loves her food and her favourite pastime is counter surfing!!
